Naturopathic medicine is a primary healthcare system which combines modern scientific knowledge together with traditional and natural medicine. It incorporates disease diagnosis and treatment with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using a variety of treatment modalities such as clinical nutrition, dietary and lifestyle counselling, botanical medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Naturopathic doctors work with you, the patient, to uncover the root cause of your health concerns in order to create patient-focused treatment plans that will fit your health and lifestyle needs. Naturopathic medicine encourages inter-professional collaboration to ensure all aspects of your health care are optimized. With an emphasis on patient education, you are given the tools to take control of your health.

The first visit is the opportunity to learn all about you. This visit will be longer than subsequent visits (60-75 min) to give you the opportunity to tell your story. A thorough health history will be taken in order to understand all aspects of your health and work towards determining the root cause of your concerns. Physical exams may be performed and laboratory testing may be ordered if necessary. Please bring a list of your current medications and supplements as well as your most recent lab work to the initial visit.
